CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS (CPR-BLS)

Bay Area Training Academy offers limited numbers of CPR certification courses.  Additionally, Bay Area Training Academy partners with Safety Training Seminars to provide  CPR courses. This class will focus on the management of patients who exhibit signs of Cardiac and Stroke symptoms. This course will prepare the professional responder to recognize, appropriately treat symptoms of a heart attack, stroke or foreign body airway obstruction and take action. Upon successful completion of the skills based and written test an American Heart Association* CPR Card will be issued. This course covers adult, infant and child CPR.​

MINIMUM LEVEL OF QUALIFICATIONS

No prior medical experience or knowledge is required to enroll in our EMT program. While not mandatory, we do recommend taking our EMT prep course at BATA to help you feel more prepared

MEDICAL EXPERIENCE

There is no minimum age to enroll in the EMT course or take the national exam. However, upon completion of the course, you must be at least 18 years old to obtain EMT licensure in California, per state regulations.

Applicants must possess a high school level mastery of the English language in reading and writing.

(No other language services will be offered at this time)

Prior to the course start date, students must possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate from either the American Heart Association or the Red Cross.

BACKGROUND

A background check is not required to enroll in our EMT course. However, California EMT certification does require a fingerprint-based background check through the Department of Justice, reviewed by your local County EMS agency.

PRIOR TO COURSE START - PREPARATION

  • Get your emt textbook and thoroughly read/study chapters 1-18​​

    • The cost of your EMT book is included in the program cost.  Following registration, you must get your EMT textbook as soon as possible. Call us to schedule an appointment to pick it up, ensuring you have ample time to familiarize yourself with the material. 1(800)-701-7333​

    • If picking up the book in person is not feasible for you, at the time of registration you will be given the option to have your book shipped to your location for a shipping fee of $24.  You may also Click Here​​​​

        TEXTBOOKEmergency Care of the Sick and Injured, 12th Edition, with Premier Access (Hard Copy and Online access included in the EMT Academy cost)

  • Consider our emt prep course

    • If you lack a background in Anatomy and Physiology, we encourage you to sign up for our dedicated class on the subject. Visit EMT Prep Courses for more details.​

  • Stay informed through emails and notifications

    • Make sure to read and stay up-to-date with all emails and notifications sent by Bay Area Training Academy. These communications will contain vital information and updates relevant to your course.​

​

  • Collect your uniform pants and more

    • Prior to the course's start date, pick up your Uniform pants using the provided voucher sent to you by BATA. Your Uniform polo shirts will be given to you on your first in-person class session of the course. ​

    • A few additional items you will need are as shown below. You will need to provide them on your own and are not included in your program cost.

EMS Style Black boots

Sturdy and supportive black tactical boots are a necessity for practical training sessions. Please ensure you have a suitable pair before the course begins.

Wristwatch 

A wristwatch with an easily accessible second hand or digital counter is indispensable for accurately measuring vital signs and timing medical procedures.

A black belt is required to complement your uniform and maintain a polished appearance during training.

You will need a laptop, tablet, iPad, or any device capable of accessing online material during class sessions. This will enable you to make the most of our comprehensive educational resources.

We strive to equip you with the necessary tools for a successful learning experience, and providing the pants and polo shirt is a testament to our commitment. Please ensure you have the remaining items listed above before the course begins, as they are vital for your training and preparedness.

5-WEEK VS 8-WEEK COURSE

5-Week Program

Immerse Yourself in Our Accelerated 5-Week Course, featuring a minimum of 32 hours of class sessions per week. To excel in the program, students should allocate an additional 30 to 40 hours each week for independent study and assessments outside of class.

8-Week Program

Embark on Our 8-Week Course, with a minimum of 20 hours of class sessions per week. As you progress, plan for an estimated 20 to 30 hours of dedicated study and assessment work each week beyond the class sessions to achieve optimal results.
